A professional model portfolio is designed to show more than how you look — it should demonstrate your range, versatility and confidence in front of the camera.
Your portfolio session can include a carefully selected mix of beauty portraits, headshots, full-length fashion images and different looks, expressions and styles. For new models, I can help plan the shoot from the beginning — including the choice of looks, styling direction and the types of images that will add the most value to your developing portfolio. During the shoot, I guide you through posing, movement and expression, so previous modelling experience is not required.

Do I need previous modelling experience?
No previous modelling experience is required. I work with both aspiring and experienced models and will guide you throughout the shoot with posing, movement and expression. If you’re building your first portfolio, I can also help you plan suitable looks and the types of images that will best support your goals.
What should I wear for my model portfolio shoot?
What you wear depends on the type of portfolio you’re building. For digitals, simple, well-fitting clothing in neutral colours is usually best, allowing your features and proportions to be seen clearly.
For a full model portfolio, we can plan several looks to show different sides of your range — from clean and minimal to fashion-led or more expressive styling. Before the shoot, I’ll help you choose outfits that photograph well and work with the goals of your portfolio.
How can I prepare for a photoshoot?
Before your shoot, we’ll discuss your goals, the type of images you need and the looks you’re planning to bring. I recommend arriving well-rested, staying hydrated and avoiding major changes to your appearance immediately before the session.
Bring your selected outfits clean, pressed and ready to wear, along with suitable shoes, simple accessories and any essentials you may need for touch-ups. For model digitals, keep your appearance natural and styling minimal.
If you’re new to modelling, there’s no need to practise or memorise poses beforehand — I’ll guide you throughout the shoot. The most important thing is to arrive prepared, relaxed and open to direction.
Do I need professional hair and makeup?
Not always. For model digitals, a natural appearance with minimal or no makeup is generally preferred, so professional hair and makeup is usually not necessary.
For portfolio and fashion editorial shoots, professional hair and makeup can help create a more polished result and develop different looks. Depending on the concept and your goals, I can advise whether a makeup artist or hairstylist would add value to your shoot.
Can you help me with posing and expression?
Yes. Direction is an important part of every shoot, especially if you’re new to modelling. I’ll guide you through posing, movement, body positioning and expression while also giving you space to become more confident and natural in front of the camera.
The aim is not simply to create a series of poses, but to help you develop awareness of how you move, respond to direction and communicate different moods on camera — skills that are valuable for future castings and shoots.
How often should I update my model digitals and portfolio?
Your digitals should reflect how you look now, so it’s a good idea to update them whenever there is a noticeable change in your appearance — such as your hair, body shape or overall look — or when your agency requests new images.
Your portfolio should evolve as your modelling experience develops. Rather than replacing everything at once, new images can be added over time to reflect stronger work, new looks and a broader range. If you’re represented by an agency, it’s always best to follow your booker’s guidance on which images your portfolio currently needs.
