We were celebrating the Lunar New Year in Sydney. Lion dance and water show at Darling Habour.
Lunar New Year falls on January 22, 2023, and is celebrated for two weeks until February 5. Street parades and other celebrations take place in Sydney and other Australian cities. 2023 is the year of the Rabbit, the fourth sign of the Chinese zodiac, which in Chinese culture is a symbol of longevity, peace and prosperity. It is a celebration of the many cultures living in Sydney, including the city’s Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Korean communities. Since January 21, festive parades, led by huge and colourful dragons and lions, have been held in different parts of the city to loud drums. In the evening there are water shows and the holiday ends with fireworks. Maria Poleshchuk attended the holiday on January 21 in the Darling Harbor area.
