MARIAM SEDDIQ ECHOES | Australian Fashion Week 2026 Sydney

Australian Fashion Week 2026 marked the beginning of a new chapter for Australian fashion. Among the most anticipated presentations of the week was the latest collection from Australian designer Mariam Seddiq. 

Titled ECHOES, the collection explored the tension between strength and softness, structure and movement. Sculptural silhouettes appeared alongside fluid draping and metallic mesh, creating garments that felt both powerful and delicate. The colour palette remained restrained and sophisticated, built around smoky greys, deep blacks, earthy browns and rich plum tones.

Presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art, the runway opened with Australian model Jessica Gomes and closed with Montana Cox, framing the collection with two of the country’s most recognisable fashion faces.

From a photographer’s perspective, ECHOES was a study in contrast. The architectural lines of the garments demanded precision, while the softer draped elements came alive in motion. Throughout the show, changing textures, reflective metallic surfaces and carefully controlled movement created a runway that was visually compelling from every angle.

What stood out most was Seddiq’s commitment to craftsmanship. Each look carried a sense of individuality, balancing artistic expression with wearability. The collection felt less like a seasonal trend statement and more like an extension of the designer’s creative identity, something Seddiq herself has described as deeply personal and reflective of her own artistic journey.
