The strongest brand content has a purpose: it communicates who you are, what you do and what makes your business different — while giving you a collection of images that can actually be used across your website, social media and marketing.
When I approach a branding shoot, I don’t simply document what happens in front of my camera. I first think about what the images need to communicate and where they will be used.
That understanding shapes the way I photograph the people, the environment, the details and the moments in between.
From a photoshoot to a visual story
For creative businesses, the process itself can be an important part of the story.
Behind-the-scenes images can show expertise, personality, equipment, craftsmanship and the experience of working with a professional. They give potential clients a glimpse into what happens behind the finished product.
For this underwater photography project, I wanted to capture that process as well as the creative atmosphere surrounding it.
The images show the photographer at work, the underwater equipment, interaction with the model and the unique environment in which the shoot takes place.
A real project: underwater photography
This approach came into play during a recent underwater photography shoot.
The project brought together models, underwater equipment and a highly specialised creative environment. While the main shoot focused on creating fashion imagery, I also photographed the people and process behind it.
This created a second layer of content — photographs that could be used to communicate the experience, expertise and personality behind the underwater studio.
The result was a collection of images with different purposes rather than one uniform set.
